Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme - Service Provider

Subsidy level and co-payment

For each screening round of 24 months, the Government will provide subsidy for:

  • one consultation delivered by enrolled PCD to the participant where FIT result is negative
  • two consultations delivered by enrolled PCD to the participant where FIT result is positive because there is a need for the second consultation to explain result and refer for colonoscopy

The amount of government subsidy for each consultation is $280.

In addition, the Government will provide a one-off subsidy of amount $76 during first enrolment to enrolled PCD for extra administrative services including eligibility checking of the participant, seeking consent with explanation of programme terms and conditions, data entry in the CRC IT System.

The enrolled PCD is allowed to charge the participant a co-payment on top of government subsidy for the subsidised consultation. The amount shall be the same for the first and second consultations, payable at enrolled PCD clinic. However, PCD is encouraged to adopt a zero co-payment amount, to promote participation of the screening service.

PCD should note that they cannot charge the participant for:

  • enrolment processing of the participant in the Programme;
  • laboratory analysis of the FIT;
  • additional encounter(s) between the PCD and the participant, for obtaining screening advice or re-issue of 2 FIT tubes; and
  • additional encounter(s) between the PCD and the participant, for notification of FIT negative result.
